About the Event

*Please note this event has been postponed - registrants will receive details about the rescheduled date via email*

There has been much work done on circularity metrics but there is, as yet, no set formalised set of metrics being consistently used on buildings. Without agreed consistent metrics it is difficult for circularity to be specified or monitored. This risks causing confusion and limiting the adoption of circular techniques.

Therefore LETI, CIRCuIT and ICEC-MCM are joining forces to gather some of the key thinkers in this space to move forward the discussion, and start to gain some consensus on appropriate metrics to measure circularity in the built environment.

Why take part?

  • Help develop an industry consensus (or progress towards it)
  • Hear some of the latest thinking from a range of organisations
  • Meet other people passionate about this topic

Option 1 – Participate in the hackathon to move forward the discussion and thinking on this topic

The first part of the day will introduce the challenge that we are trying to address. We will then collectively expand the brief of what is needed before working in teams to solve the challenge. The session will cumulate in pitching the proposed solutions to invited guests who have a need for a circularity metric along with other interested parties. This will be wrapped up by a discussion on what the next steps are to achieve consensus on these metrics.

The participants are anticipated to be those responsible for implementing metrics such as:

  • Engineers
  • Architects
  • Sustainability professionals
  • Academics

The event will be invitation only. Applications are now closed.

Applications will be accepted until Thursday 13th October and places will be allocated accordingly to ensure we have a broad and balanced range of experience. Selected participants will be informed on Monday 17th October and sent further details.

Please put a hold in your diary if you wish to attend as we anticipate a high demand and participation in the whole day will be necessary to achieve the desired outcome.

Option 2 – Hear the outcomes of the hackathon and contribute to the discussion on consensus

If you are more interested in the outcomes, as opposed to the development process, we will also be inviting people to join us for the results session only from 3pm – 5pm.

In this session each of the proposed solutions to the challenge will be pitched to invited guests who have a need for a circularity metric. Following this we will host a discussion on what the next steps are to achieve consensus on these metrics.

We are anticipating this will likely be of most interest to those who specify metrics such as:

  • Developers
  • Local authorities
  • Investors
  • Standards bodies

To request an invitation to the results session, please complete this form and select ‘I have a need for a metric’.
